I was not so excited when my dad announced that we would have the pleasure of freezing corn on Labor day Monday. But it turned out to be a spectacular day! Here are the highlights:
1- Shucked and de-cobbed corn with all my family around. Nothing is more fun than hanging out with family...even if you have to do corn. Many hands makes for light work, right?
2- Listened to Ryan talk about how awesome he is at de-kerneling his corn. He was definitely in the zone.
3- Realized the goodness of Diet Dr. Pepper. Thanks Beck.
4- Went Canoeing and watched my nephew Matthew get thrown in the water a couple times. They were well deserved dunks, I promise.
5- Gasped at Greyson falling backwards out of his canoe. Life jackets once again prove their importance.
6- Finally got to spend some time with my sweet hubs.
7- Had an amazing dinner called a shrimp broil with the family. You have a ginormous boiling pot full of young potatoes, corn on the cob, carrots, lemons, onions, little smokies, shrimp, and spices. When it is done you just throw it out on the table and partake. It was so delicious and so much fun. I think I ate my weight in shrimp. Glorious.
It was a grand old time and I can't wait to do it next year! My sister took pictures of the shrimp broil so you get to enjoy some awesome pictures! YAY!

I too labored on Labor Day! We made millions of batches of salsa. Okay maybe not millions but it felt like it. It sure will be nice to partake of our labors on a later date.
That shrimp broil sounds amazing... I can't wait to see some pictures of it, and maybe a recipe???
He he. I love the little carrot that you can barely see hanging out of Jer's mouth. He gobbled a lot for that pic!
That looks so tasty!
Wow, what a feast. what a fun family. LOve you guys!
The food looks so good!
Katie, so we moved to Sanpete....like in July...yep I'm a pretty awesome friend.
I'm so sorry, I haven't chatted with you since forever ago. Rustin got a job working with his uncles so here we are.
I don't have the internet either so I'm really out of it. I'll try to get back into all the things the internet is good for soon but I've kind of taken a break and its been kind of nice. I feel so out of your life since I haven't looked at your blog in like 4 months, but anyhow... I"ll call you soon. Are you on Verizon?
Looks like tons of FUN! and GOOD FOOD!
This is exactly what a crawfish boil looks like down here in the south. Perfect fun! Except you have to rip the heads off of the crawfish and pull off their little legs then eat it. Tastes good though! Anyways, that looks delicious!
